The PROGRESS Study is a multi-site sero-epidemiological study of Group B Streptoccus, colonisation, preterm, stillbirth, neonatal infection and neurodevelopmental outcomes following infection based in Kampala, Uganda.
The study had 2 entry points:
Birth Cohort – women were recruited in labour and they and their infants (if liveborn) were followed until 3 months of age.
Active Surveillance Cohort – any infant with signs or symptoms of infection under 3 months of age was recruited to the study for investigation of causes of infection.
